Researching: ONDREJ, ONDREY
I have just started researching my ancesters and have not gotten very far. A review of National Archive records indicate the following relatives from the 1900 census: John Ondrej imigrated in 1879. Place of birth is listed as Hungary, date of birth Jan 18, 1856. Wife is Annie, born March 1864. Children are: Emil born June 1882 in Ohio, Mary, born April 1884 in Ohio, Joseph born Aug 1887 in Ohio, Annie born September 1889 in Montana, Frank born November 1893 in Montana, and George born November 1899 in Ohio. With the family lived a hired girl with the name Annie Andrej born May 1881 in Hungary who immigrated in 1898 and a servant by the name of Paul Bertha born June 1881 in Hungary who immigrated in 1896. The census of 1910 lists this household minus the hired girl and servant and now lists the children as: Joseph, Anna, Frank, and George all born in Ohio with John and Anna's nationality listed as Slovak and place of birth Hun, Slovak. I have no idea where in Slovakia my family originated or how/where they entered the U.S. Any information on the surname Ondrey or Ondrej would be appreciated.
