I am searching for the birthplace of Frank Prachar and his wife Katerina Kouba. Frank was born in November, 1849 and he was from Seponse, Kraj Chrudimsky, Cechach. I also want to know where his wife, Katerina Kouba, is from. She had brothers, Frank and John, and a sister, Anna, who came to America. There was another brother named Adolf who stayed in Bohemia. The Kouba family was Catholic.

Researching: ERBAN
I have Wenceslaus Erban (also recorded as: Vaclav and Vanes L.), born in Bohemia, married to Barbara (?) b. 6/1821, Bohemia, daughter of Ignatius and Betsy, both of Bohemia. Their children were: Louisa Erban, b. c1840s, Bohemia; Charles Francis Erban, b. 9-4-1850, Bohemia; Veronica Hattie Erban, b. 1860/1861, Bohemia. I know that Charles Erban emigrated around 1867 and arrived in the port of NY. He was naturalized in 1893 in Providence, RI, where he, his mother and sisters settled. Barbara was listed as "widow" in the earliest censuses in which I have found them (1885), so I am not sure if Wencelaus ever emigrated. I would be delighted to exchange information with you!

Researching: RADA, MOSKOR, NONDEK
I am very interested in locating any information on Frank Rada (1838-1917). His parents were Frank & Barbara (Moskor) Rada. Frank Rada was married to Barbara (Nondek) Rada in Moravia and they had 4 children (Marie, Agnes, Frank Jr. & Karel). They resided in Baska which is near Frydek-Mistek, Moravia. The story I have been told is Frank traveled to Pennsylvania working in coal mines to earn enough money to bring his wife and children to the U. S. When his wife Barbara arrived at the port of Galveston, TX, her husband's friend advised her that her husband was deceased. She later married this man. Come to find out, Frank was really not dead. He traveled to Texas looking for his wife, only to find out she had remarried. He left the area peacefully. Unfortunately, we do not know where he settled. Two of his children, Agnes & Frank, Jr. immigrated to the U. S. in the late 1800's. Marie remained in Baska and the whereabouts of Karel is unknown. However, Frank must have kept in contact with his daughter, Agnes, as in some of her paperwork, she indicated her father, Frank Rada, died in 1917. I have spent about 15 years looking for Frank Rada and would welcome any information on the Rada family.

I am searchimg for any information about my gg grandparents roots. I know they were born in Bohemia, but I do not know the town or much else about them and their families. John Ladmann was born about 1853 and his wife Marie (Mary) Kovarik was born about 1860. They married around 1879 in Bohemia and in 1883 they came to the US (St. Louis, MO) with their first two daughters, Anna and Antoinette. I am fairly certain that they already had relatives in Missouri when they arrived. If anyone has any tips or information on these surnames, please let me know. Thanks.

Researching: PAVLIK
I have almost no information on the Pavliks. My grandmother, Julie Pavlik, emigrated from Moravia to Chicago (alone) as a teenager, to live with an aunt, probably somewhere around the turn of the century. She married Emil Pavlik (no relation to her but same surname), whose parents had immigrated to Chicago from Bohemia, perhaps Prague, shortly after 1870. Emil Pavlik's mother's name was Mary, and Emil and his brother had a marble-setting business in Chicago. Pretty thin input. Sound familiar to anybody?

Researching: SIMEK, LINHART
My mother's mother came over from Czechoslovakia in the year 1891 from a village not too far from Prague. Her family name was Simek. She met my Grandfather on the ship on the way over to America. My grandfather's name was Joseph Linhart. He met his sponsor in Baltimore, Md. and my Grandmother met hers in Cleveland, Ohio. They were married in 1893, in Cleveland, Ohio, and they lived there on West 49th Street, and then at 3595 West 134th Street, until my Grandfather died at the age of 64. My Grandmother then came to California and lived with my parents in Downey, California until 1942, when they moved to Whittier, CA. My Grandmother had six brothers, and I still have some relatives in Prague which are descendents of the one brother Karel. Are the names Simek and Linhart both Czechoslovakian? Due to the fact that my grandfather spoke fluent German as well as Czech, Polish, Russian and Hungarian, I wondered if his parents had possibly come from the Sudetenland. My mother married in 1916 to Frank Gruber, from Newark, Ohio. They brought me to California in 1920.

Does anyone have any info on these names? My Father in law's grandfather was Anton Jirsa and his granmother was Aneska (?). They were both born in 1860 in Bohemia. Thanks. (Ed. Note: Your original posting questioned a surname for Aneska of "Jirsova". This is simply the feminine form of Jirsa. Therefore, you do not have Aneska's maiden name.)

My great grandfather, John Zavesky, came to the U.S. from the Czech Republic in 1869 and settled in Cleveland, OH. In 1878, he and his family moved to Ellsworth County, Kansas. In researching my Zavesky ancestors I found out much information about other Zavesky families in Ellsworth County KS, Cleveland. OH, and the Czech Republic. I have compiled information on about 15 Zavesky families that emigrated from Bohemia and settled in Cleveland between 1868 and 1905. In many cases the info includes mothers' maiden names, children, naturalization data, etc. My great grandfather, Frank Prochaska, was born in Bohemia in 1828, married Anna Kolar in 1859 and came to Chicago with his family in 1869. He and his family moved to Ellsworth County Kansas in 1878. I have more information about Frank and Anna's ancestors and descendants.
